Upcoming Sixth Form Lecture with Nikesh Shukla

Welcome to the 2017-2018 academic year! I thought I would start this year by posting about an event that I am very excited about. On Monday 2nd October we will be hosting Nikesh Shukla, author, editor, and podcaster for a Sixth Form Lecture.

Many of you will recognise Nikesh Shukla’s name as the force behind the critically acclaimed 2016 anthology ‘The Good Immigrant’. This book looks at how immigrants and people from BAME backgrounds experience life in the UK. Shukla was nominated for the 2010 Costa Debut Novel Award and the 2011 Desmond Elliott Award for his debut novel ‘Coconut Unlimited’. He is also involved in Rife Magazine which is a Bristol based magazine that is written by young people for young people.

The lecture will be on the theme ‘Words are Important: Especially Today’ and promises to be a compelling and engaging event for Sixth Formers.  On the day there will be live twitter coverage of the event and a follow up blog post.
